I was wanting to get some feedback on this acrylic shield. I run my car with top out most of the time. It would be nice to reduce some of the wind noise when cruisin out on the interstate. I would like to hear some of the member thoughts and / or pros on cons of the product / looks. I know that Gunslinger has them on a couple of his cars and thought I might be able to provoke a reply from him.

I think the Windjammers are well worth the money. Corvette Central is about $10 less expensive than the other suppliers.

I'm 6'3" and they definitely help keep the wind up and over my head when driving. I can usually wear a ball cap and not have it fly off when going down the road, but sometimes the hat feels less than secure depending on how fast I'm driving. Without the Windjammer I wouldn't even think of having a hat on as it would be gone quickly.

Another advantage I've noticed is with the lessened turbulence is you can hear the radio better.

As far as looks go, it's gotten where I think my cars look strange without the shields on as I rarely drive them with T-Tops on the '78 or the soft top up on the '69. About the only time I have it off the '68 is when it's in a show where the top is disallowed or I have to show a functoning convertible top.

Buy one...you won't regret it.

Bruce,

How do they attach? In my mind I was thinking they would have a threaded acrylic block on each corner that would allow handled bolts to slip through the TT placement brakets on the windshield. Although I was curious on how the center was attached because this area would have the most wind stress on it.
Do you know if smoke is the only color offered?

You have it correctly...there's a threaded metal insert molded in the acrylic where a bolt slips through the T-Top/convertible top attachment holes. Each is secured with a supplied allen wrench.

It has no center support, but I haven't seen the need for one...it holds quite well. There's also a seal installed to keep out air leaks from beneath it and from scratching the metal windshield frame.

As far as I know, smoke is the only color available. I guess you could contact the manufacturer and ask if something else could be made.

Thanks, Bruce you helped me over the hump to make my decision. I use the one piece acrylic Astro Top in my vette rather than the TT. (They look nice hanging in the basement in the corvette section.) This attaches in much the same way.
My hope is that the threaded handles that I have for this top will work as well for the Windjammer.
I just upgraded my dash & kickpanel speakers and would like to not have the volume cranked up so high out on the highway. I also would like to be able to leave my ball cap on without riding in fear.

Not saying you can't lose the ball cap, but it seems to stay on. Like I said...at higher speeds it feels less than secure on my head but I can wear it at much higher speeds than without the Windjammer installed.

I've also noted that turbulence is less in my '69 with the convertible down than the '78 coupe with the T-Tops out. It just seems to trap the air in the area behind the seats that just swirls around. I once had a fabric pouch that was behind the seat with carpeting laying on top of it get sucked out the roof when on the way to Corvettes at Carlisle. After it flew out it disappeared off the face of the Earth as I was unable to find it after stopping. Maybe your '76 with the smaller rear window doesn't have that problem.
