I do all my own work, that is the reason I purchased it. I really enjoy working on the older cars.

Last night I was up till 10:45 replacing the motor mount. The night before I was playing with the timing.

Next major job is upper ball joints.
Ken, you are a brave man. There really is the satisfaction od doing it yourself. Have you ever done ball joints? Be very careful not to get hurt, but have fun and you'll get it done.

this should be in the anything goes section (but it fits so well in this forum)

PHONE REPAIR SERVICE-- A Kansas farm wife called the local phone company to report her telephone failed to ring when her friends called - and that on the few occasions, when it did ring, her dog always moaned right before the phone rang.

The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog or senile lady. He climbed a telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house.

The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned and the telephone began to ring.

Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found:

1. The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire with a steel chain and collar.
2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose.
3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the number was called.
4. After a couple of jolts, the dog would start moaning and then urinate.
5. The wet ground would complete the circuit , thus causing the phone to ring.

Which demonstrates that some problems CAN be fixed by pissing and moaning.

I've asked; she has accepted.  No two ways about it, she can turn a wrench with the best of us.  She is rebuilding the original engine for her '71.  I answer the occasional question and do the heavy lifting.

Interesting thread.  Thumbs%20Up  I try do do ALL of the work on my baby.  Only take it in when absolutely necessary.  And finding a good mechanic is like finding a needle in a haystack. Owning an old Vette is a challenge.

The advice and expertise (yeah, I said expertise; what was I thinkin'??) on this forum makes it possible.  Right now I'm struggling with TAs and entire rear suspension. Lord help me!!! Will probably require some professional work (like TAs and wheel bearings).

In a previous life I restored two C2s and then sold them.  Boy am I sad that I did!  Unhappy
