Vette(s): 1971 383 Stroker- mille miglia red...5 speed
(E-Bay auction) "Here’s a matched pair of original 1971 Texas passenger license plates. According to the ALPCA online archives, only about 5% of 1971 Texas passenger plates had the "19" portion of the date. These are unissued tags in beautiful MINT condition! Great for a collection or to display on that vintage ride! NO RESERVE!"
I HAD to have 'em and I got 'em! Never will those new, flat, painted, yucked Texas license plates adorn my Vette!
Definitely

I'm happy.

Check 'em out here.....

Dwain,
I have a 1975 plate on my Vette. SC has the year of manufacture statute and allows the owner of a 30 year or older vehicle to display an original plate if the number sequence is not in current circulation. That's actually the difficult part. I also found mine on EBAY.

Ohio also allows that. But when I went searching for them I found 74 was the last year for yearly plates. After that you got a sticker. So no 75 plates.

Same in Texas. 1974 was the last dated plate. After that, just stickers. These I just bought (won) have never been used and are the only ones I seen in ages that have the '19' in 1971. Quote from a Texas plate website..."After approximately the early "D" series of 1971 passenger plates, the "19" was removed from the top left corner of the plate. I'm not sure why this was done, although a good theory is that it was an attempt to distinguish the 1971 plates from other black-on-white odd-year plates."
Anyway, I got what I wanted. They should look good mounted on the Vette.
Can't wait to see yours completed, Ken. It's gonna look 'sick'!
(as my son would say)

Hey Dwain. Man those do look great
. Mine is a '72 and Bryar Blue in color. After my brother Phil got his vette with the Texas '69 plates I decided to see what was available from '72. Turns out they are white background with ugly GREEN colored letters/numbers on them
. I figured they would look terrible on my beautiful Bryar BLUE car!!
Oh well I ended up with those aweful looking Antique plates on it. Don't look that great but I feel better than the green ones.
