I bought my '74 plates at the Pate Swap meet way back in '98...paid $40. I see plates all the time when Mama & I are out junkin. Some are in perfect condition, some are crap...and some, the people think they're worth waaaaay more than they really are!
I'll prolly get mine certified one of the days, and put them on...
Are they in good shape? There are some really nice, mint 1974's on E-Bay right now pretty cheap..$30-$38. All you have to do is take them to Vehicle Registration Dept., let them see they're ok and pay the extra fee. Voila! Just do an E-Bay search for 1974 Texas license plates.Thumbs%20Up

MY brother has the '69 Texas plated on his Vette and they look great.  We both looked at the '72 plates when I got mine and didn't see much in the.

Well Dwain, Fred...maybe I would change my mind if I saw them on my car.

Yep, Micki, it's legal. Here it is in a nutshell, with a correction. There is an additional $15 per year charge on your registration, mere chicken feed for us rich Vette owners. ErmmLOL  Umm, now that I think of it, chicken feed ain't cheap no more, but the eggs sure be gud.
Anyway, my plates will be on by the end of the week! Thumbs%20Up   Here's a good set for you Micki... Rolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing ( wonder what that could stand for?) Put some originality on da Poop- on.

Okey Dokey... After 38 years hangin around, they finally found a home! What a trip to get them registered. The two ladies at auto registration in Carthage, Tx had never done 'Classic' plates before and finally called Austin. Then she had to be sure they were real. After I pointed out the paper that was between them and still stuck to the back of one of the plates, she OK'd them.

Finally got back home and after about 1/2 hr of Leila holding a clothes steamer in one hand and the plate in the other and me with a butter knife trying to unstick the paper that came between the plates, we managed to salvage the paper in fairly decent shape. Yup, the were an original pair of unissued plates alright. I remember when the plates used to come with that flyer in between them. Pretty cool.Thumbs%20Up
