I understand that these bolts are to be inserted at the top of the trailing arm and go through both holes with the accompanying cushions, washers, etc. I noticed on my car that a previous owner put the bolt through the lower hole only. This cannot be correct and wanted some feedback as to this question. If any of you can post a picture of your car showing the rear suspension setup, I would greatly appreciate it so I know what to look for. Also, do any of you know if there should be an upper and lower spring cup (hardware that retains the cushion) on each side? I have seen diagrams that show only one and others that show two. Thank you for all of your help and time!

Also, I forgot to ask in my earlier post, should I get the 8" adjustable rear spring bolts or stay with the factory for the 1977. What are the advantages/disadvantages of the adjustable ones if any? Thanks again for all of your help. I have learned so much from you guys/gals on this website and I love it! Best thing in the world!!!!!

The upper hole in the trailing arm is just for the bolt to pass through.

Paul is correct...the upper hole is just to allow the long bolt room to go thru. The cushion/retainer should be on the lower part of the trailing arm.
The longer bolts are OK if you plan on lowering the car. If not, the stock length bolts are fine.

Ignore the water spotting on my chassis parts...that's good ol' Pigeon Forge water/dirt from last year!!

Mike's photo also shows the bracket for the sway bar, bolted to the top of the trailing arm. This bracket must be removed in order to remove/install the spring bolt on cars with the rear sway bar.

Thank you guys, this has helped me out alot. Just so I am clear, there is supposed to be a upper and lower spring cup to each side, correct? All the pictures I have seen show two per side. I called Zip Products and they said only 1 spring cup is required per side? Thanks and please clarify this for me!
