OK guys 
i'm sure this question has been asked before but i'm new so please humor me. looking to replace my brakes potentially with an after-market kit. but money doesn't grow on trees so nothing fancy.
15" stock ralleys,250 hrse l-48(350 to wheels later)

no racing just spirited driving every other day.
rarely with speeds above 80 mph. but i wanna know the brakes are there when i need them. next i'd like to replace the rotors but i don't see alot of options. 15" stock ralleys .250 hrse l-48

Here's the kit that I would recommend. For the same price as new calipers in Ecklers, Vette Vrake Parts is giving you 4 o-ringed calipers (better seals than lip seals), new rotors and new Hawk pads.

Hey J how goes things down close to the pan.. I hear it's cold down there too..anyhoo you ask about brakes and from the sounds of it you just need stock replacement..I am the type of guy that will do everything myself so the way I went was to get rebuild kits and do them all myself..I just took the calipers apart and stuck them in a gallon of carb cleaner and painted them with an epoxy paint..The SS sleeves are nice also but if they are not pitted to bad an old wheel cylinder hone knocks em clean pretty easy..I re did all my brake calipers for 13 bucks a piece..I bought new pads from NAPA and their rear rotors also..they are ceramic pads and high machined rotors..I think I had about 180 bucks in the hole deal when it was all said and done..I now put my face thru the windshield when cramming the binders down from 120 easy..I am hard on the brakes but that is what makes em not leak..so if you want to buy a set of calipers look for a set with O-ring seals..you can also get rebuild kits with these also..obviously the Willwood are the most expensive and not really needed for your app..I guess if you got time then rebuild..if you got money then buy..BTW if you don't need rotors don't bother changing them..they are plenty thick from stock and new ones won't be any thicker if they haven't been machined!!!   I did notice some of the kits you looked at also had the steel line and the flex line in there also..make sure you compare everything that is offered in the kit.. Oh and if I remember I will take a picture of my auto bleeding tool for the brake fluid..it makes it very easy and a one man job to blled the heck out of the brakes.. yostusota2010-12-30 19:44:08

Hey "J", I just did my brakes back in September and I used the ssbc kit. It was really nice to have new lines and hoses to do the job. I did all 4 at the sametime and changed over to the silcone dot 5 fluid. The kit came with an instruction sheet that walks you through it.I believe the most important thing I found was to make sure the back end is up higher that the front for bleeding purposes. Mine actually self bled themselves just by letting the bleeders open. The kit that Luke put up looks like a great deal as it includes rotors, hoses, lines, brakes and calipers at a great price. You can also get stock stuff from O'reillys or Autozone. I did my brakes a couple of years ago and found 1 leaking caliper and got one from O'reillys and have not have any problems at all.

Geez those are some wild looking tools there..I like the fact that you are pushing the fluid from the master to the calipers..I have both at work..I don't really use the suction one as it is so strong that it pulls air into the system thru the seals..I have an actual tool that I bought that does about the same thing as what you guys have made up..I like the pump bottle to make pressure..you really don't need all that much and that would probably make more than you would need..I have come to the only tool that I use to bleed brakes anymore is a simple hose in a milk jug..I just keep about an inch of fluid in there and pump the brakes and it pushes the air out then pulls the fluid in..bled the brakes on my car with it in about 30 minutes..and most of that time was keeping the master full..fun stuff.
