I went to auto zone and bought some brake hoses for the front. In the computer it said they were for the 80 vette. When I put them on they seem to leak from caliper and brake hose where it connects to the hose and caliper what could be the problem? frstvette 2007-12-05 10:49:41

Did you use the small, copper washers on the ends of the hose that goes into the caliper? If not, you'll need to get them off of your old hoses, or get some new ones from the parts place.

adams you are a master at this. I knew you had the answer so I waited for you to respond. but you did not get the question in time I had to go to work so I call the corvette parts place and they told me the same thing. I got the washers and I will use tape and it should work

Teflon tape???
I don't think your supposed to use that.
You should be able to snug down the brake hose bolt enough to cause the copper crush washers to seal the surfaces. Make sure there is no rust buildup or flakes on the caliper side where the copper washer mates to. That will cause a leak.

well I thought that would fix the problem but now I found out it is still leaking and not from the hose. It might be from the piston. I see a small drip from the very front of the caliper where you bolt the caliper together right at the seam

Piston leaks on C3 calipers are very common. If you have to replace the caliper, I would recommend getting the stainless steel sleeved calipers. They are less prone to corrosion which causes leaks.

You just put new calipers on, didn't you?
If it is leaking where you say it is, then the o-ring(s) that go between the two halves is either missing, or damaged, or...the caliper halves are not flat where they mate together.
If any of the front piston seals were leaking, it wouldn't show in the area where the calipers bolt together, but would be running down from the piston. A rear piston leak might run down to that area on the rear of the caliper, but I wouldn't expect that to be the case. If there is that much fluid leaking, you should be able to see where it is leaking from.
Have someone mash the pedal while you look at the caliper...maybe clean/dry the area off first. The leak should be easy to find that way.
btw...Darryl is right about not using teflon(or any kind of..) tape on the brake lines/hoses...
