WAIT!!!If you remove/disconnect the rear spring, there will be nothing to hold the rear of the car up! You will really have a bad noise then! It will be the sound of the body crashing onto the floor! Don't do that!

thanks joel   i wasn't going to drive like that, would leave it on frame jacks and use a floor jack to raise and lower the rear trailing arm

Have you checked the rear shock mounts. It might be something very simple. Check all of the fasteners, bushings, etc. I would'nt mess with the spring until I have checked everything else. I wish I was close to you...I am usually pretty good at isolating these noises.

I hate noises like this...you'll find it tho, just be patient...

hoorayphew finally fixed my rear suspension noise!  i had installed adjustable strut rods and the inner locking/jam nut was ever so slightly loose (even with blue loctite on it) and the little clearance caused the click/popping noise  thanks so much to all for your suggestions.
