This weekend, I plan to replace my master cylinder and Power Brake Booster. From what I read, the attachment bolts are under the dash and need to be removed from the inside.

Has anyone done this lately and are there any tips and things that I need to be aware of?

Ive replaced my master but never the booster.  From the posts here I've decided that when the booster has to be replace, Im going to farm it out to my corvette mechanic.  I have looked around under the dash,  after removing the drivers seat, and found that a man of my age and weight is not supposed to be in such positions for extended periods of time and bifocals don't help any either.  Seriously, the booster is supposed to be one of the most difficult jobs on the vette, right up there with heater cores.  Someone here will jump in who has done the repair with some specific pointers, Im sure.  From what Ive read an assortment of ratchet extensions  and a swivel joint are needed for the top nuts.  A little duct tape on the swivel joint will allow it to swivel but still stiff enough to guide onto the nuts.

I replaced mine about 6 months or so ago. Mine is a 72 so it should be about the same. Like Crossfire said an assortment of extensions and a swivel will get it done. I would squirt a little PB Blaster or something on them ahead of time because mine were very hard coming off. Maybe see if the wife has a couple muscle relaxers around for that night after taking it off so you can rest your tired and sore back. Just take your time and you can do it.

I'm sure we have something in the archives on the subject. I'll take a look.

Patience, being able to contort your body, removing the seats and the swivels help.  You will have to drop your steering column, etc.  Be sure you clean and shoot some type of electrical connector spray on those connectors and check everything, turn signals, brakes, etc, before you button her up.

I didn't check everything closely and had to drop the column again to get the connectors in properly and working properly.

Expect to spend a 1 1/2day to possibly 2 days.  It wasn't easy, but you can do it!

I'm glad I asked the questions. I had to chuckle at some of the comments, because I too have bifocals and have found out that when working in cramped close quarters that 2.5 times reading glasses are best. I'm really looking forward to this task!!??

Anyways, I'm redoing the brakes so I figure I might as well replace the booster while I'm at it.

I replaced the brake booster, that was a real job. Removing the neutral safety switch was pretty easy, but getting it back in there was tough. My back is sore from laying in a contorted position. Anyways brakes work fine now.

Way to go, JP! Hopefully you won't have to do it ever again!

I did mine, removing the seat helped and having swivels with extensions are a must. The top left nut will be the toughest.
