Well, as much as I hate to give up a perfectly good set old Indy Firehawks, they're starting to make nervous being 8 years old. I remember what happened in '02 when I bought the Vette and two weeks later the tread came off the right front tire and pretty much wiped out the quarter panel... seller neglected to tell me those new looking tires were 12 years old.
Anyway, I looking for a new set and found out they don't make the Indy 500 Firehawks in 255-60x15 anymore. I'm looking at BFG TA radials... Cooper Cobras and Mickey Thompson... I need some help deciding which to go with... the Cobras are definitely quite a bit cheaper, but I don't know anything about them... Hows about a little help folks... thanks
I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...

I've used both the BFG and Cooper Cobra. This is subjective but I think the BFG has the more classic look to the lettering but they're each excellent tires. As far as quality and performance goes they're equal.
FYI...the Pep Boys Futura GLE is a Cooper Cobra under the Pep Boys name.

Will do

I sent Coker tire a email to see if they might be reproducing these tires since they are discontinued. Hopefully I'll get a reply from them.
I think I will be going with a modern retro torque thrust style "18 wheel since our selection of 15" performance tires are fading away.
John, I use Wesley's Bleche-Wite tire cleaner on my tires. The white letters never yellowed on any of my previous tires. Plus I don't put tire dressing on. That has a tendency of turning the whitewalls/letters yellow.

I replaced mine in June for the same reason. Like you said, not a whole lot to pick from these days.
I went with the Cooper Cobra because it's a good name and the price was right. So far after logging about 1200 miles I'm very happy with them.
Got them online from Discount Tire for $99.00 ea. plus an instant rebate of $40.00 on 4 and free shipping. Can beat that.

Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.
I'm using BF Goodrich, and Bleachwhite. No problem and am happy.
Well this is the response I got back from Coker Tire.
Let me know what yawl think. Should I post a thread here and get a idea of how many members here would be interested in a set?
