OK, on advice from my fellow c3 members i've decided to replace rear parking brake instead of half a$$ing it till later.
now I've drilled the rivets out and sprayed some wd40 then whacked it with a pretty good size framing hammer and a block of wood to no avail.
i have removed a couple of rotors on different vehicles but never a vette.
is there a set screw or should i try heat next. i'm trying to save the rotors by the way.
thanx in advance

Hello.. I just did this on mine..mine fell off once I drilled them out.they will come off with some persuading...one word of caution..if you haven't done this yet do some homework..I did my dads 79 before and even with all my stuff I still had a hard time getting them on without removing the spindles..my car had a bearing meltdown so I removed the spindles and then replaced the shoes..if you have the ability and tools and patients this is how I would do it..they really are not that hard and the tools are not that much when compared to paying someone to do it..total cost with tools was under 600 bucks..for both sides..I did it in my garage with the tools from mid America and Timken bearings and seals from Auto Zone..if you have to beat on it real hard you may have to replace the bearings anyhow..get the grease tool also..its all on their website..

What size drill bit did you use? I think I went up to a 1/2" bit when I took the rivet heads off mine. They still seemed to be clamped together. Relieving a bit of pressure on the e-brake helped in the rear. A little tapping in the right places and they should pop off.

My 79 failed state inspection for the parking brake so I'm going to do mine this week also. Figure I'll change out the rotors since I have them on hand anyway...

I had the same problem.
Even after I completely pushed out the rivets with a punch, 2 wouldn't come out without a fight so I rented a big puller and it worked fine. 20$ for the afternoon.
Steph.

Well got the rotors off but boy was it a fight! Ended up using a
block of wood, a framing hammer, and alot of wd40. Pads in place but
springs gone, adjusters frozen. Pulled it all and thru it in a box. Guess ill
order an entire kit later. Lucky I live in Alabama and we don’t have vehicle
inspections
Ps. yea I know I need the parking brake but brakes are sound and I’m
brave
