Ok all you experienced fellow corvettors. Time to purchase a new rear spring but too many out there, I want a nice ride when I get this baby done she won't be on any race track. 7 leaf 9 leaf or fiberglass then theres all the different weights to choose from, I'm thinking fiberglass but not sure what weight I should order. Tell me the ups and downs, the pros and cons the do's and don'ts and so on and so on and so on

The fiberglass spring will give the best ride, no argument form anyone on that. Not knowing off-hand what spring weight ratings are available for them, I would suggest staying in the range of factory....somewhere in the 330 lb range.

Got a fiberglass from Vette Brakes & Parts about 8 years ago. Don't remember the weights but went with what I think they referred to as "Touring". Only way to go, I think. Big difference, never told the wife and she noticed right away. They also sold me the right gas shocks for the spring. Changed out my strut rod bushings too while I had it all apart back there. They get really dried out and worn over the years.

No question, Do it! I remember shopping for mine (TRW) they had various models, one for the 78-81 because of the weight of the back window. The catalogs should point out the proper spring by year.

Only 34 years together
The best springs were the GM springs. When they were obsoleted the aftermarket Canadian and Mexican springs were never arched correctly and the cars always were jacked up in the rear. Then you had to get 8" bolts to bring it down.
The glass springs had quality issues with separation and breakage.
Today I haven't heard of a lot of the issues with glass springs and Eaton makes a USA steel spring that is supposed to fit correctly. Some guys told me they used them and initially the rear up high but settled in a couple of weeks. I haven't seen this happen and would be suspect of a drastic change in a short time period but they said it's not a problem.
