So we're finally here in Arizona. Towed the Pacer down on a U-Haul car hauler with the wheel straps cranked as tight as I could get them, a chain loosely looped over the frame in front and same in the back. Before starting the trip I had no problems with the steering. When I took the Vette off the hauler and drove it the steering now pulls hard to the left when I let go of the wheel, when I brake the Vette pulls hard to the right. Any ideas?

I would look closely at all of the brake lines, front and rear...make sure none of them got any kind of damage from the straps OR chains. Take a good look at the upper and lower control arm bushings, while your under there....it may have ruptured, or otherwise damaged one or more of them bouncing around on the trailer.

Vette(s): 1973 Orange Metallic Coupe (orig owner), L82, 4 spd (WR), PS, (A/C & PW (I installed from wrecked 73)), leather, AM/FM Stereo, ran with '65 FI unit earlier & will again some day.

Might remove PS belt to eliminate that from the pulling left problem.

I believe Adam is dead on, bouncing on a trailer can cause serious problems. When I trailer my vettes I pull the frame down a bit in the front with the winch & pull the rear down strapping it to the frame. Doing this keeps the car from boobing all around. Just straping the tires is not enough.
