Anyone interested in trying to get a group rate on the rack & pinion steering?Volunter has it for 1199.00 maybe if we get enough folks together they will give a group rate? I'll be putting this on my car next but would like to get the cost down a little.
COME ON YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!!!!

Is this price for manual or pwer steering. $1,199.00 is actually a good price. Everyone wants about $1,250.00. I wonder if Riks or Larry at Corvette Specialties can do for maybe a 5 lot purchase. As for me I already have the set-up. I worked out a deal with Muskegon Brakes to purchase mine.

I think that if you can order 5 or more, that you can connect up with Speed Direct. They manufacture Steeroids and sell them to the other venders;http://www.steeroids.com/html/steeroids_for_corvette.html corvette440hp 2008-04-24 16:38:38

Speed direct was offering them up on corvette forum for 1082.00 as a group purchase. I'd like to try one of our sponsors and see if they will deal on them. Mid America will buy your old stuff which brings the cost down but I want all the original stuff for my car on hand. I checked the link out, they want 1153 plus 43.00 shipping, not saving much on that one.fp_vetter72 2008-04-24 17:29:12

I talked to Speed Direct, and they will give me a deal on an order of four or more. We can sell them for $1,050 each, plus they will drop ship to each buyer for about $50 each, depending on destination.
We can coordinate a group buy through this posting, or members can PM me or use Adam's new e-mail feature. We will eventually need to talk to each member on the phone to get credit card info. The only option is power steering or non. You use your existing pump, etc.
For those who haven't seen them, the system replaces your steering gear box and all tie rod related parts with a new rack and pinion assembly. Everything bolts on using the factory holes, and can be unbolted to return to original if desired. I haven't driven one, but have installed one and heard great things about the "tightness" of the steering.

Sorry for the delay I have been out of the loop a few days, that is not a bad price. Now if we can get enough people together to get the deal.

From everyone I've talked to it should be a very straight forward bolt in. Yes an alignment would be needed, with attention to detail before taking the old stuff off, you should get your tires pretty close when you put the new system in. I have found that putting in these kits has really been pretty easy, I installed the VBP front mono leaf spring and lower A frames, which does away with the coil springs and was done in about 3 hours very little work with great results.

Installed mine early last year for 1100.00. It took about 6 or 7 hours. Put 6x6 blocks under wheels, to secure in place , while I dropped the steering. Makes it easier to line up your new rack and pinion. Alignment needed when done.
