Going with the Steroids Rack and Pinion system with my 68. So tired of the bump steering, swaying from side to side when you hit a wash board in the road. Thought I had it fixed many years ago with a new steering box, power steering valve and cylinder etc. etc. etc. but it has come back to haunt me. Has anyone gone with the Steroids Rack and Pinion and what do you think?  This should be an improvement on the old steering system. Pros and Cons

Have you considered the Borgeson conversion?  You don't lose any turning radius and is much cheaper.  Many of the guys in my club here have done it and really like it.
Even Danny Popp who autocrossed his LT-1 and won many times in the Optima Battery Challenge  like his Borgeson steering.

The Borgeson system seems to be just a new steering box with a new valve. Not sure that would help any. I have a relatively new steering box along with power cylinder and  valve and new front end parts, all within the past few years. New power steering hoses. The only thing not somewhat new is the power steering fluid pump. Which is fine. All of this still does not help that much in the bump steering swaying from side to side across the washboard roads.
It seems like the Rack and pinion will stop this problem. Costly, but so far for what I have seen and heard that this is the route to go. Just was wanting to hear from those that have the set up, or something similar.

I've had the R/P since it came out. Easy to install, and no problems.

I have a 68 with manual steering & installed all new frt end parts over the last 15 yrs includings the VBP leaf conversion kit with bilstein shocks. Also a Flaming river tilt steering column.  Installed a damping  shock on the steerring which helped alot. Also have a 73 with steriods and power steering. which was much to touchy at the 2.5 ratio so I changed it to 3.0 which is much better for street driving. Both handle very well & I still like the 68 better especially at high speeds. The 73 also has the upgraded suspension. In my opinion switching to steriods isn't that big of a deal & money wasted. I also went wit 17" tires on both which was a great driving improvent over the stock 15" tires.
