Kewl!
Rich, if those mufflers are round, be sure and hang on to them if he ever decides to replace the exhaust....those appear to be the factory muffies.

Rodney I really don't know what's wrong with me..I really enjoy working on these things..its very relaxing to me..when compared to work..it has picked up the last few weeks now and another guy left to go work a field rep job for Audi..so there is more there now than ever..I had the TA off in no time..tore it apart at work and sanded it all down..picked up the Timken bearings and seals in the way home and will set them up tonight..should have enough shims left over from mine to do it..let me know when you are ready I can set them up for you no problem..I only have to buy one tool for the front TA bushing stake..other than that I am becoming a tool guy..got almost everything I need..

Also if a moderator sees this could this be moved to suspension as I plan to continue with the rebuild ..thanks

Rich

Looking good, Rich, once again! Is your father-in-law bringing it to Carlisle? And WHY isn't he a member yet?????????

I think he will bring it up to Carlisle..he goes anyhow right..I have a rear diff issue I found last night that is going to add some time I think..and a few more parts..got some heavy end play on the DS output shaft in the rear diff..have to figure out if I can replace the shaft or I have to go into the diff and rebuild it also..either way it will still be done in the months time..I ordered my bushing kits last night..and will do the bearing setup today..hopefully do some u joints on the PS axle tonight..he has a computer at home that rivals a brick..in terms of power..I think it was designed to be thrown thru a window..someday he may get a new one but he's got other stuff that he's doing now..we'll see..

I have his computer's mate! The only difference is that ours died the other night. Talk about good news / bad news! It'll be GREAT to get a new one but I hate paying for it! Oh well, now mine IS a brick. It sounds like you should just bite the bullet and just rebuild the whole thing! It looks like the POs dropped the ball when it came to the rear!

He did drop the ball..he had the car signed up for Carlisle auction and took it out once I pointed out the rear issue..I really thought it was just a bushing..it moved so much I really couldn't tell..it moved back and forth inside the area where all the shims were supposed to be..thing that really irritates me is the car was inpsected not more that 80 miles ago..and 40 or more of those miles would have been driving it here from storage! I know I could really make a stink about it..may think a while on how to Pursue that one!.. its a guy who had a car he really liked then parked it when he got his 03.. not really a big deal..just a little more work and this cars suspension will be new!

I guess I have to ask, what were you doin with the parts in the oven? I have never put parts in an oven. Thought about buying an oven to do some powder coating but it would be for just that! If all you got was the "look" you were lucky. Wifey here would have killed me! Oh well, Im sure you'll have a great reason! Big smile I just cant wait to hear it! Hope the rest of the day goes better for ya, do you hide parts anywhere else? Showed my wife your pic she says she'd kill me if I brought parts into the house!
