Hey check it out, my 3rd post! My 72's manual box is shot. I'm looking at power rack conversions. Anyone have hands on experience with the Unisteer rack conversion? The rack itself appears to be the same rack as included in the Steeroids kit. I can get excellent pricing on Unisteer products so it has my attention. Comments? Thanks, Dave

I have the steeroids and I love it. I had a worn steering box and did not have good luck with steering control valves. all those worn out components get removed. we did a group buy many years ago and have not seen any complaints or problems posted.

Sorry, no experience with Unisteer but my "Steeroids" is also doing well. I love it.

I looked over that kit and I am not liking it . The power steering pump hose and pulley location is funky .. Try this one ...

The pump and hoses is an add on. Its a higher quality modern type II pump. You can use your OE type Saginaw pump and hoses. The rack is the same as used in all these kits...and in fact, Unisteer is a division of Mavel. Mavel is the OEM manufacturer of most if not all US produced rack and pinions for the big 3. I have a dealership for Unisteer. They actually won a SEMA new product award for this kit I think 2 years ago? I bet if you order one of the other branded kits it will arrive in a Unisteer box. I was just curious if anyone had installed this particular kit. I will probably order one without the pump and locate an OE 72 style Saginaw pump with on body fluid rez. If it works well, I'll offer it in my web store.

So with all that information what was the whole purpose of this topic ? You had the answer to your question before you ever posted it ..
Anyway ,, When I looked at the site I came to a Manual , and power rack .. The power rack had a p/s pump .. What is the kit cost with just hoses and NO p/s pump ? ? ?

Ummm......ya! I carrt their line of parts but have never listed, sold or installed these Vett rack conversions. I want one for my car. I was hoping someone had done the install. Some kits have 3 u-joints with a support bearing, some have 2 and no bearing. I also do not wish to be spammy on here. I'm here for my car and personal reasons...not to sell product. But, anyone who is interested just shoot me an PM and I will reply with a quote. And we will offer discounts to C3VR members. Any price I offer to you by PM will be under MAP or jobber. But again we will do this because we are enthusiasts and am planning on picking your fine peoples brains on tech for my car....like where the heck is my jack and related hardware supposed to be stored? I got it in a box and a full size steel wheel which I think is too big for the spare tire deal.
Thanks,
Dave
