I am in the process of rebuilding the front end of my 73.  I have been unable to remove or loosen the bolts holding the upper control arms onto the frame.Censored   The nuts are off and the arm can slide down the bolt but the fan shroud is in the way for removal of the arm (both driver and passenger).

My question is:  how are the bolts removed, do I just have to use more torque?

Shocked Do NOT try to turn those bolts! They are splined to fit tightly into the frame bracket without spinning, and they are pressed in. To get them loosened/removed, re-install the nut(s) back onto them until flush with the end of the bolt. Then use a shallow socket on the nut end, and a decent sized persuader(eg: hammer) to knock them out. It's definitely a tight fit to swing a hammer in, but that's about the only way to do it, unless you want to remove the shroud.

Got it -- whoa, just about screwed the pooch.  Thanks for the info, all they gotta move is a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch then I got the arms off.
