before you go changing tires, how about longer leaf spring bolts to bring the rear down? I run 275-50-15 T/A radials (now discontinued) and had no problem when I had the original spring....Now, when I replaced the spring the car sat too high. Went with longer bolts and that put the spring into the sidewall of the tires. The solution was a shortened spring from Dick Guldstrand's shop www.guldstrand.com. These are steel springs with a great ride....

I bought a new set of 245 60R15 BFG white letter TA's. The 255's were no longer available. These run fine. No interference with the ebrake cable and front tires do not scrub when turning into the driveway.
