Has anyone had any luck repairing minor cracks in the door panels or on the corners of the lower dash pads.
I have looked at the repros but frankly they are not correct and I further understand from Tony's Corvette shop in Gaithersburg, MD that the fit is not good either.
Also, I have a minor split in both lower dash pads where the panels wrap around the lower side pillar because the previous owner forced the kick panels off without taking the lower dash pads off. I am trying JB Weld and a clamp to make the repairs and will let you know if it works.
I cannot believe what I am finding broken or missing as I try and restore the interior! It looked pretty good until I got serious about eliminating rattles and squeaks.
Whew! It will set you back a few C notes!

I have used 2 part epoxy that works great for cracks in door panels as you can mold it in by cutting the foam/insulation stuff from behind the crack/split and really do a good job if you take the time, just mix and apply with a popsicle stidk or whatever to press it in and then feather it out, you may have to heat it a little this time of year to soften up the vinyl so it will mold better but it holds great and blends with the color

I agree, that's the best for the crack repair. As for surface finish there are several companies that so interior repair of all types and make the surface look flawless. There are kits you can by, but the results won't be as good. If you are not sure look for trim shop in the phone book or call a new car dealer and ask them who they use. Some of the used car dealers settle for fairly good at a lesser price.

Thanks guys. I have seen a number of vinyl repair kits via a google search. I may also go to the local NAPA and try theirs on a practice piece.
So far the JB Weld appears to be working on the plastice shell where it is broken.
I will let everyone know how it turns out.
