I am looking to put an OEM radio back in my 1972 corvette. I know that the corvette delco radio would fit corvettes from 68 right on up through 76, but they had different colored numbers on the face. My question is what is the number coloring for the 1972 corvette radio. Also I have seen some of the radios for sale that have the little yellow light in the corner for stereo. Is this yellow stereo light on the 1972 corvette. Thanks in advance for any help you might give me in the description of the 1972 corvette OEM radio.

Jimmie

Vette(s): SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
Sold - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe
I'm not 100% certain but I think the lettering on the '72s radio is white. Also the knobs have volume and tuning insignia on them. Don't know about the color of the stereo indicator. If you do go for the stereo radio make sure it has BOTH of the behind the dash finned components. Check your A.I.M. for exact part numbers.

Do some research through the 'eBay C3 Auctions' on the 'Shopping' tab. Radios can be found in the 'Electrical' category.

Vette(s): 1972 Stingray 4spd Ontario Orange on Black Presently undergoing complete body off started 11/03 and ongoing. Restoration completed July 30, 2006
I just bought an am/fm refurb on ebay from a guy using the handle glwradioman. He does a very nice job resurrecting these and guarantees them for 90 days. comes from Huntsville, AL and paid only $12 more than the original cost in 72.!! I believe that the stereo lite for the 72 was yellow in all the delcos. Delco should be written in white small script on the lower right plastic face of the radio. This one comes with the modulator as well. since the car is in the middle of resto (72 t-top) I haven't been able to hook it up but looks very good. Hope this helps ya out! |thumb|

The letters are definitly white letters on the 72. The radio comes in two parts, one in the dash and an another section mounts on the firewall behind the passenger map pocket panel. There is a stereo indicator light which is yellow on the AM/FM stereo radio. Unfortunatly, the radio is not very good and even after spending $200 to repair I still have problems with sound cutting in and out.

Yes, for 1972, the radio dial faceplate was black and had white lettering. The stereo light lens was yellow. Keep in mind that there were two AM-FM radios available in the 1972 Corvette (one with stereo and the other without stereo). I believe the one without stereo, did not have the stereo light. |saluteflag|

I have a "mono" radio for sale with convector and it does work. You will need knobs and OEM style speakers (the older radios will overload and burn out with the modern speakers) for $75 plus shipping.
