I have a 1981 and want to send out the seats for covering and cannot figure out how to remove the seat cushions from the seats. I only want to remove the seat cushions only leaving the seats in place?????? If I have to remove the seats, how do I get the cushions off????

Thanks
Nelson

Vette(s): My 1974 Vette sold last August 2014. I am still willing to show up to events and local gatherings if anything happening No new vette yet.
you have to send them the entire thing brackets and all. most places the re-do the seats wont accept them in pieces.  it takes soem time to take the seats apart but if u send them out to get recovered, the palce will take them apart and put them back together for you.  mid-america, ecklers, corvette america all do this.

I bought the mounted covers. There are clips inside the bucket and attach to wire thats clipped to the leather. You have to take the buckets apart to get them in and out. If you flip the seats over you will see that on the bottom (the easy one) you just push the two retainer clips through and th eothers just pull out. The backs are the  **%*. I cut notch in a screwdriver and bent it at an angle to push the wire out of the clips. Good luck

I don't know if there was a change between 1981 and 1982, but my cushions came out real easy. Last winter I had the driver seat repaired.

See page 5 of my pics site for pictures.

The seat bottoms should press rearward, to unhook the clips on the front of the cushion.
The seat back cushion sides should be pressed inwards on the outer edge:
On the inner edge of the cushion, towards the outside edge. This sounds confusing, doesn't it?

Thanks for the info on removing my 1981 seats. I think I'll just take them out and let the shop do the whole job. It sounds like its harder thenit looks and want it done right.
Thanks again for all the responce.
