Hey can anyone help me figure out why the top of my seat (rubber bolt) on a 75 Vette doesn't match the steel bolt on the bottom base of the seat. It will not let me keep the back from falling back all the way or it feels like it is leaning. I have tried everything but nothing seems to work. Can someone guide me how to correct this problem. I am thinking of moving the passenger side to drivers for now. It is hard to find the complete seat in Medium Saddle. I would love to get this fixed without spending more money on this Vette.

It sounds to me you are having the same problem MOST of these cars are guilty of. Under the seat bottom cover is where the bolt comes from the base. Over time they rust, and start to bend or just break loose. Thus the seat back goes farther back than you want. The fix, is to take the seat loose from the back, turn back the cover, and see where the bolts are fastened. Without a doubt you'll see the bent/broken mount. You can make a plate, or buy one from a supply house, to cover the area of support and fit the bolts into it. I double nutted mine, and left all parts in place. The nut broke loose from the frame so I had less of a problem. Mr. Apple, or someone else may send a picture. i'm not savy enough to do it. A little time and patience with tools, and you'll spend next to nothing on costs.

Okay I got that plate put on the seat. It still did not match up. Does the back top have a different setting to make it go back further to match the bolt? I am confused here is a picture of what I am talking about.

You're gonna have to take the seatback apart to investigate why the tops don't line up. Maybe they have rotated inward.
Take the seat out of the car.

+1 with Gary's comment, you'll have to take the seat out and possibly take a look at both the upper and lower frames. Something is out of whack, can honestly say I've seen some busted up seats, but never like that. If you rotate the upper stop with the rubber and it wobbles around as you rotate it, the threaded portion of the stop is bent. If it rotates true then upper frame where it screws in is either bent or damaged. The bottom stops look okay from the pic but they still may be bent or busted in some way. Take the seat out, pull back to top and bottom covers, I'm sure something will show up.

Guys, unless I missed the year they used bricks for the floors in a Corvette, I'd have to say the seat IS out of the car.
That's definitely a strange situation. He has put in the reinforcement plate mentioned above, so that should have corrected any issue with the seat bottom, in theory.
I'm also going to suggest the problem is with the actual seat back, where the bumpers screw in. That bottom plate(of the seat BACK) must be bent. It can happen if someone constantly just allows the seatbacks to flop back on the stops, instead of carefully folding them back manually. Over time, it WILL bend the bottom of the seatback.

Hey a big thinks to everyone. Adam was spot on. When I took the top of the back apart I noticed that someone tried to reinforce the back at the bottom with a metal piece. It was rusted and the frame was actually broken into. I was going to weld it but figured this was to far gone. I found one on EBAY and purchased it. So within the week everything should be fine and the passenger will have a place to ride instead of sitting on those hard bricks.....lol!!!!
