Ok, I have yet another question. (Suprise, hugh?)
I want to replace my steering wheel on my 76. What do I need to do here. I have looked all over and all the ones I find say, except 76. I have heard in here so far that the 76 has a bastage steering column. Is there a place I can get a steering wheel for it or do I need to replace some of the internals to make this happen?
Thanks again!

We have a used red one in nice condition.  It has the hub, horn ring, etc.  Another alternative is to replace the whole steering column.  Then you can use any stock or aftermarket wheel.

What year model steering columns would fit?

Most any year column will fit, but there will be some wiring/connector differences.
The '76 column takes a steering wheel that uses a specific adapter, from what I understand. There are some aftermarket wheels that will fit, and come with the adapter, but I'm not sure who has them. There are several '76 owners here that have changed theirs out, so one of them will prolly respond when they see this thread.
Were you wanting to replace yours with the same, original style, or something different?

I had a 76 colum in my 78. I replaced the entire colum with a newer used one. I had the used one rebuilt by gmtilt.com. He did a good job for a fair price. So I have a blue one if ya want. It has everything on it and was in good shape I just replaced it cuz I wanted tilt. I found out it was froma  76 after I bought a new steering wheel for it and It would not work(4 spoke thing). The colums are fairly easy to replace just 4 bolts in the car and unscrew from the rag joint, Kinda a pain to get out from the rag joint but not too bad. Hope info helps.

More than likely,, I would like to change it to something differant than stock. I have a stock wheel now, but it just dosent look that good. I was hoping that there were some aftermarket ones out there that looked good and had a adapter or something to fit the 76. Some ot the wood ones look cool.  I hope I can find out who makes some of them that will fit.
Thanks

I dont beleive you will be able to find a wooden one. I think your best bet would be to get a new colum and wheel. Thats what I had to do. I just went ahead and had it rebuit since I did not want to have any issues because It was used. Good luck in your search.
