Happy Thanksgiving all. I'm in the process of fixing a list of little (and some bigger) items on my 78 C3. When I got it, the glove box wouldn't latch, and when I felt inside the top of the box I noticed that the catch was missing, so I ordered one. When I went to install it and got down and actually looked closely, a piece of whatever it was supposed to screw into is missing as well. Apparently it must have been a casualty of a previous owner's misguided attempt at a stereo installation. Would someone be able to post a photo of what a 78 (-82?) catch looks like looking up at the top of their glove box so I can fabricate a replacement? I can make something work, but I'd like it to resemble what was original.
Thank you!
The catch is adjustable, by turning the screw it moves it in one way and out the other. You may want to find people scrapping a 78-82 for the “unit”.
Thanks Johnu, The problem is there is nothing to screw the catch to, I was looking for a photo of what its supposed to look like in there. I can guess and fab something but it always helps to know what to copy.
I appreciate the suggestion, may have to do that.
Here's the striker you need. Our sponsor Blairs have one for half the price of the second link.

Thanks, I have a replacement striker, I just need to know what it attaches to. Here is a photo of the catch area on my 78. It looks now like maybe someone forced open the locked glovebox at some point, and the owner later tried to repair the damage (poorly) by riveting in a piece of sheet metal where the catch was. I'm looking for a photo of what is supposed to be there. This was taken with my phone sitting on the glove box door looking into the glove box and up at the catch area. I'm hoping someone can take a photo of theirs and post it so I can see how it is supposed to look, so I can fabricate something close to match. Thanks!
Those boxes are plastic I think, and many years make them brittle. If the door was slammed, or excess weight on it, it may have broken on its own. If it is really important to you, you may be able to get a complete new surround for all to attach to.

The plastic box is to flimsy to bolt to. If you study the link in my earlier post, a "clip-on nut" attaches to the lip of the dash. Which allows the wire latch to be bolted to it.
These pics are from my old 1980 Dash Pad. Not sure if this helps. Not sure I did that right, so if the images don't show, standby and I will do it again.
Thank you for the picture, makes it easier to visualize, very helpful, thank you!
