I am trying to replace the carpet in my 78 & keep finding Saffron, but no Mahogany.  Are they interchangable?  & why is it listed as Saffron & not Mahogany (original color)?

Also, Mid America has a page to get a color match/cross reference to their codes on interior colors. Check it out   HERE, and look for the line that says "For an Interior Color Code Chart, please click here." This will take you to the page that lists the years/colors. Just go to '78, and then click on the "Mahogany", and it brings up a color panel.
You might give Corvette America a call, and have them send you a sample.
I looked in my ACC catalog of color swatches, but they did not have a Mahogany, OR Saffron! Just different "Maroons".

Yes, Saffron is the same as Mahogany.  The AIM shows several references to saffrom interior using the interior code 76C(cloth) or 762(leather).  Most reference books and vendor catalogs refer to those codes as the mahogany. Corvette Central and Ecklers are two that use the saffron. Seems like the part nos. in the catalogs are THEIR numbers, not GMs code numbers. Like Joel said, request a sample.  Mike

Thanks all - Thats what I am doing right now.....can't wait to gte rid of the old carpet - it really drags the overall look of the interior down.
