Vette(s): 1979 Corvette coupe
Ladies & Gentlemen,
I'm at the end of the proverbial rope with the interior restoration of my '79 Vette. I'm trying to remove the dash pad (one piece) in order to replace the heater core and some A/C plenums.
I've removed the 4 door jamb screws, the glove compartment, speakers and the gauge console. I see two upper clips holding the pad to the dash frame - and I have been able to "unclip" them.
It seems as if the dash pad was installed originally and then the windshield installed (?) I can't get the dash pad out from the windshield pillar trim (the corner edges are wedged in tight).
Please share any insight you may have on how to sucessfully (without too much damage!)remove the dash pad. Thanks in advance!!

quickster, pillar trim must be removed first. Then you will have to bow the pad JUST ENOUGH to pull it UP and back.Just take your time with it.If you need more help call me at the shop. 615-255-3939.

1yy07,
Many, many Kudos to you. After removal of the pillar trim, the dash pad came out as easy as pie. Thank you very much!

Be even more careful replacing it. I broke the ears off of mine trying to bend it back into place and about died....Thank god for foam glue...good as new.

Thanks dhilbert! Without your "heads-up" I'm sure Murphy's Law would have come into play with the dash reinstallation!
