You guys are laughing...was at a coin op show in Hershey just before xmas in the car museum. They had boxes of 8 tracks for sale to guys like us. Everything was fairly cheap...except for anything Elvis....dunno why lol. ( not an elvis fan )

Say, when did these appear in a Corvette as an option??? When did they go away?....saw a CB FM for sale in Carlise......probably should have snagged that one. |biggrin|

If you're from a bigger city or the western plains you KNOW what a 45 is - it's prefixed by the word Colt...!!! |laugh| |laugh| |laugh|

A few years ago my daughter was looking for some music from the Mamas and Papas. I knew I had some, turned out it was on an 8-track. So rummaged around in the basement and found the old 8-track player/recorder. Plugged it into the stereo and proceeded to blow her away with all that 'ancient' technology.

I installed an aftermarket 8 track in my 66 Grand Prix. The radio that came with my Vette when I bought it last year is a AM/FM/8-track. I haven't hooked it up yet. Don't know if it works.

My stereo receiver in the garage has an 8-track player until it recently died. Now i have all these 8 track tapes with nothing to play them on. I gotta hit some yard sales.

Hi Luvmy76,
What model Alpine did you buy? Did you have to cut the dash panel to install it? I've been think of replacing the Delco radio in my 82, I just can't stand the poor sound that it produces.
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Toms 82,
Installing an after market radio in your vette, you'll likely need to modifying your bezel. I'm in the process of installing an Alpine into my 74, (I actually have 2 Alpine radio's but that's another story)what I chose to do is order a radio bezel from Audiosound for $200 which is already cut out for the new headunits. That's a lot of money, however, I want to save the orginal bezel in case I sell the car (I doubt selling it)
I will be using Infinity Kappa speakers, 2 rear 6X9's, 2 front 4X6's. A friend has the same setup and it sounds awesome.
Alpines come in different price ranges, depends on what features you want. The're great radio's.
Good luck ! |thumb|
