The seat has to come out, then the carpet, then a plastic cover, and then you will see a bolt that holds it to the floorin the middle of the floor. There is a steel bar at the edge of the door that has to come off as well. Under the car is the nuts. The are welded to the metal floor plates so you don't need to hold them when unscrewing the bolts. That is unless everything is rusted out.

Wait...how do they come out again? My 75 has 1 gigantic bolt under the plastic cover under the seat(greater than 1 Inch across)....Did they change?

The bolt holds the retractor but , atleast on mine, there is a metal rod with two 5/16" bolts that holds the strap out from under the seat next to the door sill. I know they did make a change but not sure when.

Maybe so...Its been over a year. Mine don't retract and I tried to fix it once, but bigger problems appeared. I think the bar is there on the 75s, never thought about it being a problem coming out, but I suppose it would be.

I took all my interior out over the summer to installed heat and sound insulation. As I had to take the seats out anyway, I repaired both my seat belt retractors. I was pretty lucky as they only needed to be cleaned up and trash removed that had become louged in them over the years. The seats have 4 bolts holding them in. As previously described, the nuts are welded under the floor, so you only have to remove the bolts, nuts stay in place. You also have to remove the cover from the retractor. I believe 4-6 screws hold the cover in place. Once you have the cover off, you can see the retractor. I vacummed mine, then removed any corrosion I found. I extended the belt as far as I could and checked for any foreign objects. With them extended, and hopefully nothing broken or worn out, I lubricated the spring and mechanism with a silicon lubricant (making sure not to get any on the actual belt). I then retracted the belt several times, checking to make sure they would lock, unlock, extend and retract. My belts work great now, considering they are over 28 years old. Hope this helps. I would spend a little extra time while the seats are out to clean up and also lubricate the seat positioners and seat locks.
