OK, Got an electrical Gremlin running around in my car. He seems to be camped out in the console. So...took the console apart. Is it normal for there to be BONDO AND DUCT TAPE in there holding the vinyl part together? As well as what appears to be raw wool or cotton Lumped in the corner? Just seems a little...wrong. Wondering what should be going on there. Pictures will follow once I find my digi cam.

Hiya Scot,
I am not saying that this is what you are seeing, just saying it MIGHT be what you are seeing. The wool type stuff could be undercarpet insulation and the duct tape could be from the transmission tunnel insulation. The bondo may be from a poor job of repairing the little screw inserts that hold the top plate on the console.
Without seeing it, it is pretty hard to tell. A good rule of thumb is, if it isn't asking for money, asking to be fed or asking for tuition money, then live and let live |biggrin|
We gonna see you in Hershey?

well, the ball of wool...appears to be a well insulated MOUSE NEST! |eek| |eek| |eek| Looks like the insulation that can be found in a few places around that area, and hidden underneath were a whole pile of mouse droppings. What a way to make my day! Squirrels in the battery box and engine bay, and mice in the cabin! So, anyone want a vette/rolling zoo you're welcome to come buy it! |laugh| |laugh| I replaced the battery today and its running a lot better now, had the console open to look for shorted wires, and found 3 or 4. Also looks like the P.O. was a bit of a mouse himself, cutting random wires and then changing colours, or, cutting the wire and just leaving it? Fun fun stuff! If anyone has an extra interior wire harness I'm looking!

I won't make it to Hershey this year, scheduled while I'm at school. If you'd like to meet up tomorrow I'll be driving to and from New Jersey(from DC). Give me a ring 301-526-5236.

Guess we will have to find a show halfway in-between us over the summer. Don't store it all winter. Drop it off over here. I'll be glad to drive it around for you ( just to keep the battery charged , ya know? ). |laugh|

I had the same problem when I took off the car cover after the winter. Apparently, some mice/chipmunks/squirrels/what-have-you camped out in my interior, turned my sound deadener/insulation into nests (which I've found inside the car, in the engine bay, and outside the car!). I also think they have chewed through some of my wiring, becase I have shorts and non-working electrical apparatus where I didn't before the winter. Always an adventure with the cars...now all I have to do is break out the multimeter and try to find my electrical gremlins. |ick|
