Does anyone know of a good product to clean carpets without having to saturate them? I just bought my 81 about a month ago and I don't think the previous owner of 15 years ever cleaned the interior even once. What a MESS. I really don't have the budget to replace the carpets just yet. I have tried everything I could find, unfortunately all the products need to "saturate and sit". I have plush camel carpet. PLEASE HELP!!! |sad|

I've had pretty good luck with Resolve.
If you end up getting the carpet wetter than you're comfortable with, just use a good wet vac and take your time, it should pull out most of the water.
After that, tops out, windows down and let it sit outside and finish drying.
You could also disconnect the battery and leave the doors open too! |thumb|

Oxy-Clean. Take it out of car, if you can. Vacuum good. Then take a stiff brush, brush it dry as long as you can, then vacuum again. Go to Depot, get a $5.00 can of Oxy-Clean, dilute in warm water, add a little bleach, then scrub. Repeat this three times, rinsing well between scrubs. Final rinse, get ALL ths soap out. After dry, take a little white vinegar, (vinegar is a neutralizer), and mix with clean water, and spray on heavy with spray bottle. Take dry towel, take dampness out. Sit in sun till dry. Using a neutralizer will take all soap residue out. You can also get the "Blue Coral", upholstery cleaner at your local auto parts store. It has a plastic scrub brush built into the top. Use it after the first heavy cleaning. It will make the carpet smell fresh also. I have cleaned many boats with marine vinyl and deck carpet, and there I use a combination of multi purpose soap and bleach. Watch the bleach, and if you have thin skin, wear rubber gloves. Good luck.

Thanks! I'll try it. It's probably going to take forever. I've never seen anything so dirty. 15 years of road grime, etc. is pretty bad. I don't understand how anyone can treat a Vette like that. |no-no|

Try Tuff-Stuff. I used to use it when I detailed cars and it works great. |thumb|

I like Tuff-Stuff also.
If you have industrial supply available, you can use SF-77. You have to dilute it, but it will clean anything. Wicked good stuff.
