Topic: Cleaning interior pieces for dye prep
in Forum: C3 Interior
I got some I'm re-dyeing.I've cleaned them three times with joy dish soap. What else should I do to make sure I get ALL the dreaded Armorall off so I don't get and fish eyes and good adheason. Thanks
Acetone. This will clean off all of the crap and soap. The follow up with wax and grease remover. It won't leave a residue. Most other things will.

The eastwood company has a specific pre-dye cleaner and a no sand primer for interior parts. I have used the products for both soft interior pieces, like seat leather and for hard plastic trim. I wouldn't do it without their prep products. I have always had great results.
Good Luck,

I used a product called Colorbond on my interior. It looks great and holds up well. Its not a dye as per say but it did a good job. I'm sure they have prep also. here's the URL, Terry
Prep-Sol is a time proven product for grease , wax etc. NAPA also has a pre cleaner that I've gotten good results with.
As far as the dye itself, I much prefer the auto body supply dyes over the spray bombs.

Watch using acetone, it will melt the plastic parts if not used lightly.
Clean the best you can with any cleaner, 409 or what ever, then clean it with Bon Ami cleanser. It will also prep the surface so the dye or paint will stick. It won't leave a residue like some soaps will. Been there, done that.
