there is a bolt under the rear center console. you can get to it by removing the passenger side storage box and reaching under the center box and you can reach the bolt. i think its a 7/16 socket

I just replaced my center console plate with a new one it was a lot more involved than that, had to remove side panels, screws that attach it to upper console 2 -7/16 bolts that hold it to bracket on floor. you will find more, the furthur you get into it,I understand that you only want to replace the boot, but it will be much easier with the console loose to get it pushed up in there with more room for your hands. TIP now would be a great time to replace the shifter console, you probably wont want to do it again for a while !

If you do not have an A.I.M. (Assemby Instruction Manual) for your year I'd strongly suggest investing in one. They're not all that expensive ($25 or less) and are a big help in trying to figure out how to take something apart (and put it back together again!).
Thanks to all. I have ordered the manual. Should be interesting!

Hello Kerry,
Use a 1/4" drive ratchet with a bit adapter and #1 phillips to get to the small screws in each corner of the boot.

Hey Kerry,
I agree with Norsky, the Factory Assembly Instruction Manuals are worth their weight in Gold when it comes to taking apart and reassembling your car. You will be glad you got one.
You have one BEAUTIFUL Vette man. Love the color inside and out. And its a 4-speed to boot!
