I have a new problem with the soft top on my car my wife reluctantly pointed out to me yesterday.  I have what looks like a perfect knife cut parallel to the body of the car about 2 inches from the bottom about 8 inches back..on the drivers side window of the car.  The cut is about 1 1/2 inches long and not shredded at all..a very clean cut.  I have what looks like a mirror image of what will be the same "cut" on the other side..it's just not cut yet.  I hope I am not at fault here but I must have put the top down where it hits a bow or hinge?  Real question is has anyone out there fixed this with any positive results..how does this get avoided..I don't want to replace the original top!Angry  I have guys at work that repair interiors that look great and match..but I don't know how it got there, on either side.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Do you have some pics? Is this a cloth or vinyl material?
I can't say for sure, but I don't think theres anything that would cut the top like that just by folding it down, but it may be one of the bows has a sharp edge on it, or possibly doesn't have the pads it should have on the bows....that's really weird.
You haven't made Mama mad lately, have ya?

Just kiddin! Pics might help, tho.

I figured out why I have the cut in the top..the rear bow doesn't have the metal covered with anything and it pulls on the material..it's not pinched but very tight..I guess with me driving it more than it has in the last 38 years I found a weak spot.  I found a repair kit to glue it back together from the inside.. I will add some vibration tape to the bow where it's rubbing.  Looks good so far.I have to wait untill tomorrow to do the match to the outside. I think I have figured out how to add a pic to this and will once the repair is finished.
