Anyone have any experience with the dash covers sold by Corevtte America or Ecklers? From what I gather, these are some sort of molded plastic or vinyl overlay that can be painted, etc and are kept in place by an adhesive? My real concern was whether they look cheap, or will stay on well, etc? I'm considering repainting my dash and thought it would be worth 100.00 or so to be able to do so without having to remove my current dash.

i was in doubt about how to get my dash done . reading about all kind of covers that are available. some comments were positive other were negative. my other option was a new ( repro) dash.. but did read lots of negative comments so i decided not to go for that. to make it short.. i took my dash to a restoration shop and had it custom made covered with leather.
it costed me 500 euro ( $600) and for me it was worth every penny compared to the the vinyl dash.

I've never installed one of them, but I've seen quite a few...they do look kinda cheesy to me, but, it might be a good alternative to replacement if the funds are not there at the time for a repro/NOS piece. my 2c

Are you saying you replaced your dash with a repro piece or one of the "covers" (not a dash pad BTW)? To be honest, I'd like to not have to remove the whole dash (just for the ease of it) unless one of these covers is going to look cheesy or fake
. If they look silly, I'll just replace or re-paint the dash. I'm also considering changing interior colors and I'd like to be able to paint one of these covers in case I really don't like the outcome
!

Todd,
There is also a dash skin avaialble that is the same material used on a new dash pad for about $100.
It is held on with spray adhesive over the existing material. I'm gonna try it on my right lowe dash pad this winter.

We used the Corvette America 100.00 USD Covers that slips over a filled and sanded original and attaches via adhesive spray. You Must take the dash out which is not a really huge task. Be sure to make it easier on yourself and remove the A-Pillars and the passenger side dash piece allowing for more room to remove and install without having to "bend" the covered dash as much.

I Like it, however if you show your car I would sugest against it. It looks GREAT and much better than the cracked replacement that was in the car when we brought it. We also have the original "glass" dash also with a crack that I may cover and or sell on e-bay.
Search by seller BFC_Detroit I have a bunch of liitle items closing tommorrow.
Have fun, and I'll get some photo's so you can deciede for yourself.
