Vette(s): 1982 corvette crossfire production numer C5101985. Color is silver and claret. All original numbers match. slight mods to crossfire for better efficiancy and power balanced and added fuel pressure assembly between throttle bodies,
So my car now has a crack in the dash. Any ideas how to fix it? And prevent more cracks? I do not use armoral or any other shines on it. Just water when cleaning. Crack is about 2 inches is length

Well there are a couple ways to go about it.

The first way I really haven't seen nor heard of anyone having great success. You could try one of those dash repair kits that require some grinding, filling, sanding and then paint it to texture it.

The second way would be to put a dash overlay over the existing dash. Those are around $140.

The third way would be to just order a reproduction dash and replace the original one. That requires a lot of work to change it over. I did mine years ago. I found a OEM dash for $200 but over time it has developed a small crack. I know Mid America Motorworks has the dash's for $500.

Perhaps not the perfect solution, but they work, at least until you can find a dash pad. I've got one of these on my '85, just to keep it from getting sun faded, but keeping direct sunlight off of them will help them last longer without cracking from drying out, and age.  Thumbs Up

On a related subject. I had my dash refurbished when I had my seats done. The guy who did my seats said he could cover my dash with the same leather. Cost me under $100 because I was having the seats done. Looks fantastic but as you can imagine made for an even tighter fit into place and all bezels. Unfortunately, after the 6 years that have passed the top part of the dash is loose. Not sure if I'm going to repair or replace the whole unit.
