Has anyone found a dye for the door panel carpet on a 82CE?
I am redoing the carpet (and several other things inside) on my 82 CE but my door panel carpet is badly faded. The leather is in decent shape as well as the seats so I did not want to spring for those at this time. The leather would not be able to withstand taking it off to replace the carpet. I'm looking for a carpet dye that would be fairly close to the new carpet I got from Auto Custom Carpets through one of the normal vette channels. Anyone have any ideas or has tried something in the past.

Jeff,
What color are you working with. I have bought interior dye/paint from corvette america and I am soon going to dyeing my seat belts. I have also tried the dyes the at you can buy at the grocery store and have had decent luck with it. I dont remember the name right now. I am sure others will jump in and offer their expertise as well. Many great ideas you will find on this site.

I am trying to do the silver beige that came in the car. Carpet is new and door panels are badly faded. Car sit in the sun for about a year and was not moved. One side actually has a pinkish tint to it now.
Have you checked with any of the sponsoring vendors to see if they have any dyes that would match your color. If so I am sure they could give you a good way to go. My door panels were black, I bought a product called RID (I think) at the store. There were probably 20 different colors to choose from there. I mixed it then dip a rag in the dye and tamped it into me door panel. I was very happy with the results. I did a thread on it sometime around July or August I think.
