Vette(s): 1977 Coupe L-82 350/210hp, 4 Speed, Corvette Medium Red, Delux Red Leather Interior, Power Windows, PS, PB, Cruise Control, A/C, 33,000 Miles on the factory original engine.
I have a small spot on the drivers door panel armrest that is split and beginning to get worse. My door panels are red.

I already have epoxy that I could use to repair the damage but it is the typical epoxy color. Is there a product out there that may be colored to better match the door panel color?

Most of the main vette parts suppliers sell the interior dye to match your color in a spray can. I get mine from Corvette America. If the surface to be painted is clean, this stuff sticks very well for a long time. Vinyl, plastic, carpet, it does it all. After patching the tear you could spray the whole armrest but keep in mind, even though these dyes were designed to match your int. color code "when new", you will probably see a difference in tone due to fading of the original colors. I did the wifes '78 in doeskin, and while there are tone differences throughout (steering wheel, dash and etc.) I put in the carpet and door panels from a kit so that's the best I can do. Never meant it to be a show car. And the wife is happy Big smile"HUGE"Wink.

Eddie, you may be able to get a basic kit in red at a large chain Auto Parts store. But My man Jimmy is correct on two fronts.....
  1. The spray works great, spray the whole piece so at least you have no bad blend marks.

Vette(s): 1977 Silver Coupe; built on March 15, 1977. Every option except towing package and roof rack! Just turned 61,000 original miles!
I, too, have the "splits" on both arm rests and have come to the conclusion that after 32 years of service, the door panels need to be replaced.  I was wondering if anyone has a favorite supplier.  Corvette America, Al Knoch or??
PS: I have used the interior paint and it works great!  Good luck!

They make an arm rest repair kit.  It is a molded piece that glues over the existing door panel and covers the cracks.  It is 21" long and 2 1/2" wide.  They list for $40.00, but I don't see a listing for '77 red.  We have a few that were here when I bought the store ten years ago that don't list application, but they look a lot like the 77 color sample in a catalog.  We get $10.00 for them, so it isn't a big risk.

When I need something for my 81 I generally go to Mike Yager at MidAmerica Motorworks.  They are one of the Sponsers of C3VR.  Mike and his crew will always try to help you out and never just try to "make a buck".

We, of course, would prefer you go to Corvette Specialties.  But we are biased.
