Am I the only one that has crappy fitting door panels?  I fixed the carpet on the lower panel and put the trim back on, but when I put the door panel back on the Velcro does not want to keep the door panel pulled to the door frame.

What are yoru thoughts.  Is the Velcrow shot?  Should I install new?  Has anyone else run into this and have a good fix to make the fit the door well?  There are only 4 screws on a 72, two up top on outer ends of door panel and two on the interior door pull handle to close the door.  The rest of the attachments are velcro.

Do you think replacing the velcro will fix it.  The panels act as if they are warped slightly.

Thanks in advance for any replys.

Sounds like your door panels fit like mine.  They've been like that for years. I just figure the velcro is shot.    Maybe it's a thing with '72's.

Anybody else want to chime in here?

Mine are the same way on the '69, and the drivers side on my '70 didn't stay put either. That velcro looking stuff just doesn't appear to hold on very well.

Same here on my '73... I don't think the Velcro is bad as they are plastic...... Seems that the panels are not flexible enough or out of alignment with the matching velcro to attach to the mating part. I thought about shimming the velcro (as it's pop rivited on mine) to hopefully make it grab a little better.

Has anyone tried to add screws to pull it together better. I'm hesitant as to how that will work or look, and of course it won't be original ... I can live with mine as it is right now, but it's not perfect...

Mines a far cry from perfect as well.  I like the idea of shiming the velcro even if it stands out a tad, is better then what I have now.  The rivets can be drilled out easily enoughMy passenger side is ticking me off to the point that I'm going to need to do something.

As far as screwing the panels down, I suppose you could provided you found just the right attachment spots, I'm just not crazy about the idea that I might screw up a 800 dollar door panel.

I guess I'll make a trip to the hardware store and see if there might be other ways or alternatives.

I'm looking in the corvette central catalog and item number 483310 - door panel clips.  I don't remember any clips on my door panel.  What are these used for?  Do they hold the door panel to the door in some fashion?  Maybe mine are missing.

Aren't there two metal clips that slip in the inside of the panel (one front and one back) and then screw on the outside of the door. They are down low... Mine has them. Kinb of L shaped and screw into the edge of the door. If you dont remove them they will pull out (like broken) If not removed they are easily pulled out of the door panel.. I can take a picture of mine tonite if you like... They hold more than the Velcro does

I would a photo as I'm pretty sure my door panels don't have these.  Maybe thats my problem and why they won't stay put.

I'll post a pic. or if you like I can e-mail them. You will be able to see where they attach to  the door but not inside the door you will have a general idea. The screw hole is on the edge of the door.. below the strike and it is threaded... about a #8-10 Metal Screw I believe.. These definitely make a difference. First time I took my panel off I found them the hard way. I had to repair the panel but was not that bad. I will take pics about 6-7 tonite

The door clips work quite well, you may want to try going to a HomeDepot and look for "Industrial strength" velcro. I've used it in other applications (not door panel though) and the stuff is great.
