Ok folks, I can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for.
77 vette: door panels. Mine seem to have woodgrain inserts. I have new standard panels the came with the car when I bought it last august. I want to install these before spring gets here. But what I can only find is every book or web page I go to, says that the inserts are supposed to be black? So, are mine in the car are wrong or do i need to look somewhere else? All input would be greatly appreciated.  ConfusedConfused

I'm pretty sure the black panel is standard for a 77.  MY 77 has the original door panels and the insert is black.  Here's a photo from my car.Biff2007-02-13 06:26:01

Thanks. It looks like black it is. I haven't  taken the door panels off yet. Is this a glue or screw on type operation? Also seeing your door I have to replace the part behind the door handle to. can the be had as a separate piece?

I started on the door panels Yesterday. I was able to pull all the parts off the old panel ( passengerside) and started reinstalling all the hardware on the new one. The door handle plate that mounts to the door panel was braded with a washers. Is this going to a problem to put back?

The 77 would indeed been factory with black panels.
There should be a plastic vapor barrier. You can use some plastic sheeting for this, and tape it on, or get some roll caulk.
The door handle eschuchion will be a pain to remove and replace, but not an impossibility. You just have to carefully work the washer off of the pin, maybe by a little judicious filing, and then re-peen it back on. They are a pain, fer sher...Good luck!

Update on the Panels
I finally got the passenger door panel finished and installed. The door handle Whatchamacallit. was a Pain.  I had to drill the new holes a size smaller an press the whatchamacallit pins through. the tight fit is supposed to keep it in place. If not, Glue is supposed to be the answer. Some of The pins didn't come all the way through the panel, and the ones that did were to short to re-peen. The door looks good now!! The other side will be done this weekend.  Oh yea, the inserts were Black. That shows you how much I paid attention, Or is it the onset of forgetfulness. Now...where Was I....?  Confused
