I bought a pair of door pull handles and the screw set from Ecklers. The handles are fine, but it seems like the screws that came are much longer than my originals. Has anyone else had this problem? Is that an easy screw to find at a hardware store?

You should be able to find a suitable replacement screw at the hardware store, I guess. They are sheet metal screws, not wood screws, so be careful to get the correct threads.
Are you certain, however, that the ones that are in you door pulls are the originals to start with?

I replaced the ones in my 77 and they were an 1 1/4 inches or so but worked fine. I had to re-tap 1 new hole cause buba used a wood screw
!! Got mine from Ecklers also..

I honestly have no idea if the ones that are in there are original or not. They all match. The one that was broken was missing the metal piece on the pull and didn't have a screw. So I just bought a pair on Ecklers and the screws. I guess I can take out the one that was "original" and take it to the store with me to try to get a match. Mel - When you re-tapped, what were the specs that you used?
Can't remember exactly
, I used a standard tap from a set that threaded into one of the good screw holes. I went just to the right of the over sized hole buba created, drilled a new hole and tapped it out to accommodate the new screw. The door panel was forgiving enough to accept the change. It worked great. This was a couple years ago, memory not what it used to be
!!

Didn't really answer your question but I hope this helps!!

Depending on how skinny your arms are, the best thing to do with the holes is to hold a dolly behind them and smack them with a hammer and flatten them back out. Then run a tap through them so you can avoid drilling new holes or installing oversize screws.
