Hello all,

I am the new proud owner of a 1982 black coupe.  I am trying to find a replacement motor for my '82 driver's seat.  Any suggestions?

I have looked in all of the normal places (Mid America, Ecklers, Corvette Central) without any luck.

Also any ideas of could have gone wrong?  My first attempt is to take the seat off and look at the motor to see if there is anything loose or easy to fix.

Thanks for the help.

82 black corvette, you cant go wrong there Thumbs Up Im assuming you have confirmed its the motor, not the switch that is the culprit?  Id check the switch first, they are available and not overly expensive.  There is a multi pin connector under the seat where the power wiring comes through the carpet, give that connector a good look and make sure its good and snug  You will have to remove, or at least lift the seat tracks to get to the connector.  If you have to replace the motors you are probably going to have to go to a used part vendor and may have to buy the complete track, motor assembly.  Larry with corvette specialties is a supporting vendor on this forum and may be of help here. His username is VetteSpecialties and you can find them on the web at www.CorvetteSpecialties.com Crossfire19822009-08-16 07:46:20

Crossfire1982,

I took your advice and looked at the obvious first.  Found a dime stuck in the grears and the power supply connector had a broken side snap that interrupted the power supply to the motors.  Glad to report that the seats are working like they should.  Thanks for the advice.Big smile

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
There is a guy in San Diego that has three warehouses full of C3 parts.  Named Steve.  I'm getting a lot of parts that are hard to find from him.  If you need help locating parts I can forward is email to you.  (I cannot do it now as I'm in Japan for the next week or so and do not have it with me)   If you want confirmation of the condition that is easy also he is only about two miles from my house.  Bill  "life time member number 24" put me in touch with him about six months ago.

It is kind of fun stopping in on the weekend as he has 3 to 5 guys with C3 working on vetts most weekends.
