Before you dye the leather, try a good cleaner and conditioner. You might be surprised how they look.

 

If the leather is worn, the dye may be a temporary fix until you can replace the leather and cushions.

 

You will need to remove all the dirt and oils on the leather before dyeing. Not sure if a good cleaner like 409 or soap and water will do the trick or if you need a commercial cleaner.

 

Look in the Yellow Pages for a leather or dry cleaning store or leather repair store and see what they recommend.

 

As for paint, most of the Corvette parts suppliers sell paint for the plastic interior parts. Like anything else you paint, the prep is the most important part. I got a can of spray paint from Corvette Central and it matched my gray parts perfectly. I would think they (and others) have a black that would match.

 

I got my wood trim parts at Carlisle, PA. At the show they were 10% off, no shipping and I could make sure they fit before I took them home. Easy to install and they clean up nice. I don't remember the name of the company, but they attend all the big auto shows.

This is our first Corvette but we're not newbies on the old car scene. I've owned my 62 Impala convertible for 10 years and husband Dave drives a 61 Belair 409 that we bought on Ebay in 2000.

I believe the primer that Corvette America has will work eith any finish dye color... i used it with dark saddle...
