When your automatic shifter lock paw breaks off, don't spend 159.00 for a rebuilt shifter fix it yourself it's simple.Your shifter comes out very simple, take it apart weld a piece of flat stock same thickness on the push-botton rod on the bottom slider.Do some filing so it fits in the slot, lube it up, put it back togther your good to go.My Wife makes funny faces when I tell her how much parts cost, anybody else have this problem?

I hear ya, Dave!! Mama makes funny noises, also, to go along with the faces! "HOW MUCH?!!!" "You can't just fix it with some paint or sumpthin?!!" Great idea on the shifter repair. I've done my share of those 'back-door engineering' jobs! Hey......as long as it works, and no-one gets hurt, go for it, right!?

I've just got hold of a second hand Hurst Indy Shifter off an old Saginaw box.  It's in really good shape and all I have to do is change the mounting plate and remodel the linkages and I'll have a nice short shift pattern that won't be sloppy and rattle all the time.  No need for the reverse lock toggle anymore.

Anyone else using Hurst shifters?
