Since it's not too likely that I'll be popping a cartridge of "The Collected
Works of Three Dog Night" into an 8-track player in our '78 any time
soon (make that never), I'm thinking about pulling the plastic storage
racks out of the glove box.
They seem like they should be pretty easily removed...but then again, this
IS a C3 we're talking about here. Has anyone pulled these things out, and
if so, can you tell me how they should be extracted?
Thanks--

So let me get this straight, to see if I understand what appears to be a
first on this forum:
Joel....doesn't....know....how....to....do....this!
And worse, he has no pics to offer.
Nooooobody knows anyyyything 'bout no 8-track storage racks, huh?
I'm beginning to have the sneaking suspicion (no, I'm not paranoid--but
that doesn't mean that there aren't people out to get me!) that this forum
is actually a front for some secret fraternity/sorority sort of thing, made
up of late 60's/1970's/early '80's
long-haired, leisure-suited types who communicate via 8-track
tapes. No one could detect them, since nobody in their right
mind has an 8-track deck with which to play their messages.
I'm right, aren't I? You all belong to something called
"Disco Inferno"--?!
And the mysterious so-called 'Pigeon Forge' you all attended recently was
actually a code word for "Peter Frampton", your musical hero and leader. I
bet all the men were wearing white shoes and matching belts and all the
women had Big Hair, too--so members could identify each other on sight.
That has to be it. Otherwise, one of you wise guys/gals would be able and
willing to reveal how to get this utterly useless piece of plastic out of my
glove box. The fact that you are all evidently still running around with
these things still in YOUR cars proves that I've stumbled upon The Truth,
which is Out There.
Sort of like our Silver Anniversary, which apparently is going to have to
remain stuck with storage racks for a hopelessly outmoded musical
technology......forever.
I'm going to have to log off now and go play some Benny Goodman on my
Victrola in order to get over this...SFVette 38967.4033449074

Well crap!
He's found us out, folks!
Now we're gonna have to "sanction" him!
Sorry, Ted(if that is your real name
), sounds like you need a rubber component displacement tool, #J-549-Hitithard-2.
I'm sure someone here has a service manual, or an Assy. manual, that might shed some light on this.

If you do pull out the racks, save them (if they originally came with the car) cuz they will be worth some denaro - $$$$.
When ya get tired of lookin' at 'em ya' can sell them on Ebay.

There was one for sale on E-Bay yesterday - inb Vintigae car and truck part - radio/audio section - Had a pic - maybe that will help you determine where to hit it with joel's "rubber component displacement tool, #J-549-Hitithard-2. "

Ya know it would be purty good ta load her up wit some vintage tapes. Ya know like deep Purple Machine Head, Alice Cooper Killer, Best of Bread, etc. Would be great conversation pice! Unless Micki's SCUMBAG THIEVES come by ta rip these off too!Tuxblacray 38974.8372800926
