The Firewall Insulation that's left under the dash was really junk. So I've got most of it out. Need to do some scaping to get the rest off. But I called Zip today because they had the best price but they don't have any. All the other places I called are over $300. They have raised the price from whats in the catalogs. Anybody bought this stuff lately. I need to get this in before I can do much else on the Interior. And does anyone have any tips on what order to put the Interior back together. It is completely empty now. No Dash, No Column, Just the wiring harness thats coming out tonight after I take a few pictures.Confused
Thanks
Lonnie

Lonnie,

I had the same problem last winter.  The factory type stuff was backordered for a ling time.

While waiting for the factory type stuff, I sprayed (you can brush it on too) on a ceramic heat shield.  http://www.lizardskin.com/  I put the factory stuff on top of that.  I followed that with all new grommets.

I still have some heat on hot days, but not the foot scalding asbestos shoe kind of heat.  I need to put the heat on on cooler days.

If I had to do it again, I would have used the spray on stuff followed with a Dynamat or Hushmat type of insulation. This would mold better to the contours of the firewall.  http://www.dynamat.com/

Be carerful with this stuff, the foil has sharp edges.

Don't forget to get some insulation for under the carpet, the tranny & exhaust heat can be an issue also.  Also, make sure the foam sleeve is on top of the tranny or get  a new one.

I put my interior back together like this:  new harnesses, dash & floor insulation, pedal box, steering column (loosely), ductwork, upper dash, left dash, radio/gauge bezel, right dash, shift console, e-brake console, seats.

Somewhere along the way I tightened the steering column.  Be sure not to kink the oil pressure hose.

This is pretty much how I took it apart, so that's how I put it back together

Good luck,

Anthony

I looked at that stuff after I read your message and I think I'll get some. Anything to keep the heat and noise down is a plus.
Thanks
Lonnie
