I am going to change my 85 MPH speedo for a 140. Does anyone have any hints on remove and replace?
Thanks.
Chuck

I just bought all the faces at carlisle. the tach speedo faces were i think around 15 each and the center console gage face is part #A2151 for 15.99 from ecklers.

I have done this a few times..it is the same as the tach..you have to pry off the needle--making sure that you do not break or make larger the hole that the pintle goes into..it just pops back on--don't put it completely back together untill you check to see if it goes to 0 with the key on..for the tach..the speedo should bounce back to 0 by flipping the needle up towards the numbers..or stop at the stop pin if it has one..harder to take the dash cluster out than it is to replace the gauge back..

Try calling Harrison Speedometer, He can re-silk screen your gauges for a fraction of the price of new faces and they come out fantastic. Here's a shot of my oil pressure gauge that he redid including recalibrating to read up to 100 PSI.

We have a service that reconditions any gauges, replaces any lenses as needed, etc. We can even send them the dash assembly and get it back ready to put back in. It will look like new.

I am in the process of removing my 85 MPH speedometer to upgrade to the 140 MPH. I have removed the lens and the trim plate and have also removed the 3 screws securing the speedometer.
Does anyone know the best way to get to the back of the gage housing so I can remove the 2 shoulder screws that hold the speedo in place? And after I remove the shoulder screws, what's next?
Thanks.
Chuck
