Hello to everyone that visits the "C3 Interior" forum!! My name is Mark Anderson and I was chosen by Adam to monitor this forum and make sure that everyone stays friendly and follows the rules! With very few exceptions, C3VR members have been some of the best I have seen on the internet. Compared to other Forums on the internet, us Moderators have a pretty easy job!!!
I am by no means an expert on C3 interiors. However, I have done a fair amount of work to the interior on my '72 and might be able to contribute my fair share to this forum. I am sure I will learn far more than I will be able to contribute, but that is what these forums are all about!!
If you have any questions or need to discuss any issues with "the management", don't hesitate to call on me!

Good Luck to you and may I add that is a sweet vette you have.
I have been working on my car since the first day I brought her home 3 years ago and with almost all of the mechanics done I seem to be at the point where I can start working on the interior. I purchased the all inclusive nut, bolt and screws interior kit from Stoudt's Chevrolet in Reading, Pa. this past summer and proceeded to replace any screws that were missing. The center console became loose and fell out while I was driving and when I tried to repair it found that the only thing it was attatched to was a old wooden paint stirer jammed in the opening spanning the left and right side of the front dash panels. (Bubba was Here) My problem is although I know where to put the replacment screws in the center gauge console, there is nothing behind it to tie into. Am I missing some sort of bracket that attatches behind the left and right side of the dash or tabs that are supposed to be there but are no longer there ? My dash is in excellant condition with no cracks or fading which alerts me to the fact it is aftermarket and was put in by the previous owner but NOT the right way. I mean an old wooden paint stirer ?????? What a total IDIOT !!!!!
Can't wait to see what else is rigged up.
So is there anything I can refer to that has any details as to how to set up the dash panels the right way ? I also want to replace the speakers while I am there, The ones I have are pretty much shot to hell.
Thanks
Joe V.

Hey Shrek...
You were great in your last movie
About the pieces that the screws tie into, you can go to your autoparts store and pick up these fasteners that fix this problem. They're basically a clip that clips onto a flat area and has a hole in the middle where the screw can tighten into.
I don't know if that description is clear or not, but just head down there, and ask someone there for an interior fastener and explain what you're trying to do...
good luck

Thanks for the response Imran,
I have all kinds of manuals and books on how to do repairs and none of them deal with this subject, just ordered a 75 assembly line corvette manual, you know the one that shows how things are put together, hoping that will show me something. I will check out these fasteners you mentioned and hopefully this will do the trick.
Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question.
as far as SHREK, People say I look like him, others say I look like Jesse Ventura.

Take the reference to looking like SHREK as a compliment and the reference to looking like "The Bod" as an insult...!!!

Shrek,
No problemo, I hope it does it for you. I've had to use all sorts of tricks to get my interior looking TOGETHER from these little wonderful pieces to riveting things together.
Jim,
Thanks for voting for him and getting him into office! It took the heat off us Floridians and our screw ups in elections

i know on my 72 there is a metal bracket part #3918660 that is bolted to the console and allows the side covers to be attached at the dash. but looking in my assembly manual other than a set of screws on the E-brake cover i don't see any other mounting screws. i know this bracket can be ordered as i need to replace mine as it has had new holes drilled into it from the PO. As for the gauge assembly there should be 2 studs that go into the console and then just screws that screw into the dash.

Hey Mark,
I will be probally be spending some time in this forum in the next year. I already started on my 75's interior, but waiting now for the temp to change so I can finish the re-dye on the interior. I have refinished a couple panels and really like the new look. I have had to already replace some of the original molding because time has paid it's toll on them. I want to stay with as much original parts as possible and taking my time is the trick. Happy vetting...
