Vette(s): White All Original #s matching 74 L82 with Tan interior
I figured with all the knowledge at this awesome web site someone might have the answer to this. Has anyone had this problem? After my car warms up and I start driving there is an enormous amount of hot air blowing into my driver seat area. Mainly down by my feet and along the inner floor vent on the side. How do I correct this it is unbearable to drive in the summer like this. Any pics would be helpful too.

There are a ton of threads on this in the archives,it's an on going problem,if you can possibly amagine that there are problems with Vettes LOLLOL.your hot water contol valve may be stuck open in the engine compartment, the seals on the doors down behind the kick panel might be deteriorated,.there is a lot of heat coming in from the engine compartmentany openings in the firewall will let it in.a lot of guys have put manual shut off valves on the heater hoses so no hot water can get to the heater core and it does help

Try these old posts, they may help.  Im sure there are more but these are the first ones I found.  Hot air can come in at all the locations that Ron mentioned. Most, if not all, of us have fought this same problem in the summer.

Adding insulation under the carpet will help a lot.
If you can put it up on a lift, you can look for small opening in the floor boards near the rear of the engine and the tranny.

Just be thankful you don't have the 454 engine.phew

Vette(s): 78 White/Oyster all original. Purchased from original owner
I first replaced vacumm valve in the one heater hose, no effect.  I than put the insulation under the carpet and manual valves on both the heater core hoses.  Fixed the problem.  You do have to stop and open the valves if you ever get cold.  Unless it's winter that never happens.

Vette(s): 1974, 454 with 4 on the floor, matching numbers.
I've have the shut off valves, headers wrapped, and trans covered. The heat that I still get on my right foot is incredible .phew
My next step will be the vent doors, firewall, and carpet. I really don't want to touch the carpet, it's the original, and in excellent shape.
But, in order to fix the problem these are the things that have to be done.
Good luck

Vette(s): 78 coupe, Dk Brown, ZZ4 385 hp fast burn, steeroid rack/pinion, Keisler 5 speed. Built to run with C5 and C6. on the highway. Can't beat them. But they can't lose me in there mirrors. LOL I built it to enjoy. So far I've tripped through 15 States.
Do you have A/C in this Vette?? If yes on the consol control HOT and COLD cable connects to a water shutoff valve. If this don't close when you put on cold. The hot water from your heater pumps into the cage.  Now if you don't have A/C.   Install a pair of side pipes. They don't go under the cage. and you will feel the difference and hear it too.

I put extra insulation under my carpet when I redid the interior. Installed shut off valves on both heater hoses. Put new seals in the heater box and right side vent behind the kick panel. Its much better nowBig%20smile but then I also have A/C
