I don't know if this should go here, or under another forum.
My '79 is HOT. But not "hot " in a good way.

Currently the A/C does not work. But I also suspect that the heat shields and insulation are not doing thier job.
Can anyone offer advice on repacing or augmenting insulation?
Under carpet? Floor? Transmission??
Thanks.

There are dozens of previous posts on the this subject. Most of the
Corvette vendors sell kits that insulate the floor from the exhaust
heat. A lot of this heat is coming from openings in the firewall and
from the heater core itself. Cutoff valves on both heater hoses help a
lot. Doing it on only one hose will not help. Do a search and you will
find a lot of good advice.

Scott is correct...there are numerous threads on this subject. Under carpet insulation is a great start, as is making sure there are no unwanted/needed holes in the firewall, and making sure you have the seal across the rear edge of the hood.

Get side pipes and run all that heat to the outside of the car before it goes underneath you!

John, I love the look of side pipes like yours.
But I had heard they make the interior hotter not cooler???
I am also not finding after-market side pipes for a '79. Did you fit yours to your car??
The Hooker headers and side pipes should fit, although on later C3's the mounting holes for the side pipes were deleted, so you'd have to do some drilling. Not sure what year they vanished. For heat issues, definitely do a search and read the past threads - there's a ton of knowledge and info there. From what I've read, it takes a combination of efforts to get a handle on the heat.
